![]() I have played two games of Combat Commander and that was enough to convince me it wasn’t for me. LNL offers a free print and play battle so you can test the system out before you buy. ![]() And it offers some unusual modules like the Falklands and an 80s cold war gone hot module. It isn’t as realistic as ASL but I always have a good time playing it. I’ve played games where a hero pops up and completely changes the game. ![]() LNL plays out much more like a grand over-the-top war movie than an actual simulation of a realistic battle. Also, LNL offers the best option for solo play. Get LNL if you want more game and less guff. The components are functional but the other two games offer flashier components. I solo ASL by playing both sides without any problem. It’s a tried and true system that will give you a lifetime of enjoyment. Start with the ASL starter kits to test the waters (cheap way to decide if you like the system). It’s a complex system which will take the longest to get comfortable with but the payoff is tremendous. ![]() Get ASL if you want the best nuts and bolts squad level tactical simulation. It’s going to come down to what you are wanting to get out of them (and how much you want to put into them). I own two of them but I’ve played all three. ![]()
